Celebration of Pushkar Festival is one of the most remarkable events in Rajasthan during the month of November. Although the dates of Pushkar Fair depend upon the lunar movement, traditionally, it falls in and around November.

Hundreds of thousands of devotees take a holy dip in the sacred Pushkar Lake on the full moon night of the month of Kartik and worship at the Brahma temple. Tying a red ribbon on the hand after the puja is another ritual of Pushkar Festival.

In the holy city of Pushkar the festival centers round a five days cattle fair where faith and commerce come together and gyrate in festive spirits. Probably it is the largest cattle fairing the world. During the festival the otherwise desert landscape offer a dazzling spectacle.

The fair ground becomes a crazy mix of camels, cattle, shops, bangles, sweetshops, clothes, potteries as well as men and women in colorful turbans and Ghagras, which turn it to a multihued pallet. Ash smeared sadhus in saffron are a common sight.

The tine village seems to burst at seams with a huge population comprised of buyers, sellers, tricksters, musicians, pandas, priests and tourists during the peak dates of Pushkar Festival.

The nights are livened up by the medley of sounds and sights with folk music and dances, dramas and camel calls. Travel.mapsofindia offers online booking of hotels and tour packages to Pushkar Festival and all over India.
