More Details
Diwali usually takes place eighteen days after Dusshera. It is celebrated on “Amavasya”- the 15th day of the dark fortnight of the Lunar month, called “Kartik” in the Hindu calendar, which generally falls in the months of October- November as per the English calendar. One of the most widespread and beautiful festivals devoted to Lakshmi is Diwali, the festival of lights. Diwali is a 4-5 day celebration beginning on the lunar New Year, which falls sometime between October or November, depending on the year. The festival is a time to celebrate the victory of good over evil and injustice, and to pray to Goddess Lakshmi to renew the health, wealth, and prosperity of households, businesses, and farms in the New Year.
