Architecture in India
India boasts of a wealth of architecture. In its continuous history of more than 5000 years, several dynasties have ruled over many parts of India. Each dynasty has contributed a lot to creating architectural wonders that lie peppered over the Indian landscape.

Thus India showcases some of the most beautiful sculptural and architectural specimens in the world. History, myths and legends still linger over these architectures and unfold glorious chapters of Indian history. No wonder that, for many, the very word India evokes the image of Taj Mahal which one of the Seven Wonders of the World. Apart from Taj Mahal , numerous architectural marvels are scattered from Kashmir to Kanya Kumari from Gujarat to Arunachal Pradesh .

The architectural beauty in the Indian monuments speak volumes for the superior aesthetic sense and engineering skills the Indian civilization had achieved and developed over the ages.

The astounding variety of subjects and emotions that find expression in the sculpture and architecture in India would also leave you spell bound. Diversity is of course a prominent aspect in its architectural wealth like all spheres of Indian life. In different parts of India, a multitude of subject, style and tradition becomes evident in its temples, mosques, forts, palaces memorials, pillars, gateways and many more.

Various influences from all corners of the world have come and blended to create and redefine beautiful sculpture and architecture in India.

Religion played a major role in the creation of many architectural marvels in India. Temple architecture in the states tile Tamil Nadu and Karnataka , southern part of India is an abiding lure for the enthusiasts. Magnificent forts and palaces are largely concentrated in the northern India in the state like Rajasthan , Gujarat and so on. The erotically sculpted temples in Khajuraho are unparalleled example of skill, aesthetics and passion for life.

This does not necessarily mean that in north India you do not find splendidly carved temples or in south India does not have majestic forts and palaces. In fact India displays a variegated collection of marvelous architecture, which unfolds the glorious chapters of Indian history.
