About Chettinad
The city of Chettinad is situated in the southern part of
TamilNadu in the district of
Sivaganga. The name of Chettinad comes from the famous
Nattukottai Chettiar community who inhabit this region. They are well known for the background in banking and business. Though many members of this community had earlier migrated to different Southeast Asian countries presently many members of this community are also settled in many western countries as well.
Climate
The climate of Chettinad can be described against the three main seasons of India
Summer
- this season stretches from March to May. At this time of the year Chettinad experiences very hot climate. Average temperature varies from 23 degree Centigrade to 43 degree centigrade.
Monsoon
- The Monsoons commence from the middle of June and continues till about September. The rainfall varies between medium to heavy. It provides necessary relief after the summer months.
Winter
- This season extends between December to early February. It is most pleasant times of the year for the people of Chettinad when the temperature ranges from 20 degree centigrade to 30 degree centigrade. This is also the season when Chettinad receives most of its tourists and visitors.
