The holy city of Ujjain lies at a distance of 56 kms from Ujjain.It is famous as one of the centers of Kumbha Mela.The Mahakaleshwar Temple, the temple of Har Siddhi Mata and the Gopal Mandir should be on the itinerary of the religious tourist. Mandu, 99 kms from Indore is a historic city with a plethora of monuments reflecting the royal splendor of past ages.
Festivals in Indore
The famous festivals in Indore are the Navratri celebrated at the Bijasen Mata Temple in the months of September/ /October. The Anant Chaudas festival takes place around September with large processions taken out and eventually the idols of Ganesha being immersed on the Anant Chaudas night. Rangapanchami is celebrated five days after Holi in the month of February/ March where instead of colors, the sound of music fills the air. Ahilya Utsav is also a famous one, which commemorate the death of the brave queen Ahilya Bai.
