Maharaja Gulab Singh was the founder ruler of the region today known as Jammu and Kashmir travel guide. By virtue of the Treaty of Amristar with the British Government, he brought 3 different districts of Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh under control and came into being as a political entity. Until 1947, Jammu and Kashmir was a conglomeration of a number of princely states. Given an option to choose between India and Pakistan, Maharaja Hari Singh, the then ruler of the region, opted to join India. Since then, a lot of blood has flown down the Jhelum to save it from the greedy clutch of neighbouring country.

After a period of deadlock, normalcy has come back to the state for quite some time. Tourism has resumed. People from across the globe have started to travel to Jammu and Kashmir in large flocks for the last few years.

Set against the majestic Himalayas, the state of Jammu and Kashmir is endowed with resplendent natural beauty. As you travel to Jammu and Kashmir, you can take a glimpse at some of the world's highest mountain rages like: Karakoram, Zanaskar and Pir Panjal. Placid lakes and thick conifer growth lends varying character to the region altering hues with the change of seasons.

The beauty of the region has captivated the people of the world from times immemorial and possibly no language can describe it aptly.
