Ranakpur lies just 98kms away from the city if Udaipur. The place owes its name to Rana Kunbha who ruled the area in 15th century. Today a lot of tourists travel to Ranakapur to visit the magnificent temples.

An enchanting story goes into the making of the temples. As per an inscription in the temple, Dharnaka, an affluent and reputed Jain merchant was inspired by his dream. Pleased by this tale, Rana Kunbha donated a large tract of land in the Aravalli foothills for the purpose of building the temple.

The construction set in under the supervision of the renowned architect Depa and it took 50years to complete the temple. The sheer magnitude, dimensions, and aesthetic grace of the main temple would capture your imagination as you travel to Ranakpur.

The four-faced temple has 29 halls, 86 chapels, five spires, and 20 domes. Travel to Ranakpur to see the intricately detailed sculptures that adorn the porticoes of the temples. The image of all 24 Tithankars (Jain prophets) are carved out of stone.

Numerous pillars (nearly 444 in number) support the structure and each of the pillars is different from one another.

Each of the temple spires has a bell on top, which tinkles with every gasp of breeze. Perfect serenity reigns over the area, which is conducive to intense soul searching.
