Several wild lives are spotted within the lush green mixed deciduous vegetation consisting of Teak, flame of the forest, jamun, a variety of acacia, tendu, dhak and babul trees. A number of gurgling rivers crisscross the rugged hilly terrain that the region is.

The biggest of all tourist attractions in Sasangir is the Asiatic Lions. It is only here outside Africa, where Asiatic lions are spotted. An approximate population of 300 lions inhabit in the National Park, which is also a lion sanctuary.


Apart from the lions, commonly spotted animals include: wild boar, common langur, chinkara, striped hyena, jackal, porcupine, hare, black buck, chital, leopard, gazelle, nilgai, wild ass, spotted deer and the four-horned antelope. Marsh Crocodile can be spotted easily in lake of the Kamaleshwar dam.

Bonelli's eagle, peafowl, grey partridge, painted sand grouse, crested serpent eagle, jungle bush quail, common green pigeon and several species of doves are found among the avian species.

Guided trips arranged by the park authority and mostly carried out during the early morning and the onset on evening offer excellent opportunity to watch the birds and animals in the natural setting.
