The gateway to the North East India, Siliguri is located in West Bengal in India. Siliguri is beautifully tucked in between the north Eastern Himalayas and the Dooar region of West Bengal. Another wildlife sanctuary that has earned a reputation for the different varieties of animals and birds that fly here is Garumara Wild Life Sanctuary. It is located 87 kms from Siliguri. Shorea, an eco-tourism center is located in the sal forests of Baikunthapur part of Mahananda Wild Life Sanctuary.

For the bird lovers, if you travel Siliguri, make sure you go to Gajoldoba on Tista Barrage, it is an ideal place for watching birds that fly from Ladakh and Central Asia. From Brahmini ducks, to Poachards, Bar headed goose, Pintails, Shovlers, various species of storks, ducks and cormorants, and many more, the display of is brilliant.

Coochbehar with its beautiful palaces, temples and lakes is an interesting place to visit, and so are Mirik and Kalijhora, which are a hill resort and scenic spot respectively.

This important tourist destination of West Bengal is famous numerous opportunities for shopping. While Darjeeling tea is by the most bought item in Siliguri, woolen garments are also bought in abundance.
